Savage and Associates has announced the acquisition of northern Michigan-based firm, Encore Financial Group, following a successful three-year relationship between the two firms during which Savage supported Encore’s compliance and back-office operations, including technology support.

Under the new agreement, the transaction does not affect Encore’s day-to-day operations, staffing, or client service model. The firm will continue to operate under their existing name, with Encore principal and founder, Dennis Hesselink, remaining actively involved in client relationships.

“Savage has been a trusted partner to Encore Financial Group for the past three years, and this next step allows me to focus on what I love most — working directly with my clients,” said Hesselink. “Nothing changes for the people who count on us. Our team, our approach, and our commitment to our clients remain exactly the same. I’m excited about what this means for our continued growth in a rapidly changing industry.”

The acquisition reflects Savage’s continued investment in financial professionals and firms it has long supported, providing additional resources for growth while preserving the independence and client relationships that have defined Encore’s success.

“It is not every day when Ohio and Michigan come together, however, we are extremely excited to have Encore Financial Group join Savage,” stated J.R. Toland, president and CEO, Savage. “Dennis has built something special over the last couple decades. This acquisition is a natural next step in our relationship. Our goal is to give Dennis and his team the resources to keep growing, while staying true to what has made Encore Financial Group successful for so many years.”

Encore provides personal protection and wealth management planning for clients, including wealth building, financial goal planning, life insurance, disability insurance, health insurance, estate planning, and more.

For the 10th consecutive year, Savage and Associates has been named one of the region’s top workplaces by the Toledo Blade. Additionally, the company received a specialty award for exemplifying core values.

“Ten years doesn’t happen by accident, it is about a culture created by a very large team of people who take great pride and joy to serve our clients and communities,” stated J.R. Toland, president and CEO, Savage. “Nearly 70 years later, and now, with more than 170 associates, our clients are the ones to benefit with our size, growth, and an atmosphere that lends toward a great environment.”

Being named a top workplace is based on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner, Energage, LLC. The Blade partnered with Energage to conduct the anonymous survey that uniquely measures 15 drivers of engaged cultures that are critical to the success of any organization, such as alignment, execution, and connection.

Third-party rankings and recognitions are no guarantee of future investment success and do not ensure that a client or prospective client will experience a higher level of performance or results.
