Active community leader and philanthropist
Robert "Bob" Savage previously served as the company's President and CEO for 28 years, and alongside his brother (and company founder), John, was integral in building and growing Savage and Associates. Bob remains a true inspiration to the financial professionals and staff across the company.
He continues to place his energy toward making his beloved hometown of Toledo, Ohio, as well as countless surrounding communities, a stronger and more vibrant area in which to live and work through unlimited philanthropic efforts and tireless leadership.
His passion for the University of Toledo, his alma mater, is endless. He served as a Trustee for the university for 11 years, and their foundation for more than nine years. Bob received the highest alumni award from the University of Toledo—The Gold T Award—in 2003, and the College of Business Administration and Innovation Pacemaker Award in 2010. He was the key organizer and leader in developing the Savage and Associates Complex for Business Learning and Engagement for the University's College of Business.
Well respected locally, regionally and nationally, Bob assisted several years as a leader for many key charitable and civic organizations. He served on the Board of Directors of many businesses and corporations, including three whose stocks are listed on the New York Stock Exchange. In 2020, he was bestowed the Touchstone for Lifetime Achievement award from the Press Club of Toledo for his regional contributions in business, public service and philanthropy.
Education
Bob graduated from The University of Toledo in 1959, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business with a major in Finance.
Bob has spent his lifetime as a leader and a great cheerleader for the University of Toledo. In 2013, in recognition of his life’s work, the University graciously conferred upon him its highest honor—an Honorary Doctorate Degree.
Personal
Bob and his wife, Sue, have six adult children and fourteen grandchildren. Highly active in the community, Bob and Sue Savage received the 2017 Outstanding Philanthropists Award presented by the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
