Our 2026 Charities
The Josh Project Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing drowning by providing affordable swim lessons and water safety education for children and families, targeting ages 5 to 17. Founded in 2007 by Wanda Butts in memory of her son Josh, who tragically drowned at 16, the Project aims to empower youth with essential swimming skills and water safety knowledge. As a partner in the Pool Safely campaign since 2012, the organization actively works to turn the tragedy of loss into a mission of education and safety in Toledo, Ohio.
Bittersweet Farms aims to enhance the lives of individuals with autism and their communities by creating a supportive environment that fosters meaning and motivation. Through a model that emphasizes aerobic activity, partnership, planning, and structure, Bittersweet promotes a sense of interdependence. Every interaction within the community offers opportunities for reciprocal communication, relationship-building, and cooperation between staff and participants, ultimately focused on developing each individual’s potential.
Recognizing the potential within each child, Let’s Build Beds is dedicated to ensuring that every child has a bed of their own. Through engaging build events, volunteers transform materials into bed components while prioritizing safety and fun. The organization equips volunteers with the necessary tools to create headboards and bed rails, which are then delivered and set up for local children. Each bed includes a new coil spring mattress, sheets, a comforter, and a pillow, providing a safe and comfortable space for children to sleep and dream. We craft our beds to meet the growing needs of every child.
LifeWise Academy, founded in 2018 as part of Stand For Truth, aims to support administrators and teachers in their efforts to serve students, schools, and communities. Inspired by a successful released time program in Van Wert, OH, which achieved a 95 percent participation rate among public elementary students, LifeWise launched its first programs in fall 2019. Research indicates that LifeWise programs enhance student attendance and behavior, earning recognition from educators and strong recommendations from parents.
