Employee Benefits Department Administrator

This position provides departmental support to producers/assistants.  In addition to running quote and submitting cases, this position will perform research inquires, proposal presentation binders and work on special projects. This position will answer routine / non-routine correspondence and work with highly confidential and sensitive information.  This position will deal with a diverse group of insurance carrier representatives as well as internal contacts at all Savage & Associates is looking for a full-time Employee Benefits Department Administrator.

Essential Functions:

  • Run quotes and process pre-screens for numerous agency carriers
  • Scrub and submit all business to carriers. Report to producer/assistant any additional information/documentation necessary for the processing of an application in a timely manner as necessary.
  • Field producer/assistant inquiries regarding carrier practices and policies. Process new/terminated employees, AORs, benefits changes and other pertinent correspondence.
  • Sort and distribute new policy mail. Draft written response or reply by phone or e-mail when necessary. Respond to regularly occurring requests for information.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies.
  • Work independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
  • Participate in training for new hires/ interns
  • Creation and assembly of marketing binders and wrap document.
  • Point guard and specialize in multiple online resources to assist producer in sales/service. Champion technology implementations.
  • Present a professional and helpful appearance.
  • Assist in other areas of the department or assist in other departments as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • High school graduate or GED, preferred college level courses with an emphasis on business studies helpful, professional certifications beneficial.
  • Health & Life license
  • 5+ years’ experience health insurance administration
  • Knowledge of office administrative procedures and knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment.
  • Advanced experience in a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets and database software.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • An attention to detail and a desire to work with people.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion with minimum supervision.
  • ACA knowledge and compliance acumen.
